This wine is one of the younger varieties around. Created in 1925 by crossbreeding Pinot Noir and Cinsault, Pinotage was designed to stand up to the unique vineyard conditions in South Africa. The Ophidian is a classic and highly enjoyable wine. With flavors of dark plum, boysenberry, and blackberry this wine has nuances beyond the normal range. It is propped up by beautiful sweet smoky flavors. It can stand up to rich and spicy meats right off the grill.
